Batman: Arkham City will not be getting a next-gen version when it releases later this year as the development team has decided to focus entirely on current gen consoles. That being said, there will be some next-gen features in the PC version of the game.

In the latest Arkham Origins trailer, the developers show off the game running on Nvidia’s latest desktop GPUs. With PhysX enabled, players will be able to take advantage of next-gen features like a cape with movements dictated by natural movements instead of animations. The addition of PhysX also adds realistic fog to the game in which players can interact with.

Batman: Arkham City set a new standard for PC ports of console titles when it came out in 2011 by adding all the features that PC gamers have come to expect from native PC titles. With Batman Arkham Origins, it looks like Warner Bros. Montreal will be keeping that tradition alive.

When Batman: Arkham Origins launches on October 25, PC gamers will no doubt be getting a superior experience.

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. This time, the company gives us a look at the multiplayer component of the game. The trailer is comprised entirely of gameplay footage taken from cinematic angles with the song I Hate the Taste by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club playing in the background. Check it out:

Multiplayer seems to be going through mostly unchanged between Assassin’s Creed 3 and 4. The only major difference seems to be the visual themes. While Assassin’s Creed 3 had the colonial America look to it, owing to 3’s American Revolution setting, 4 has, unsurprisingly, a pirate theme.

Multiplayer was first introduced to the Assassin’s Creed franchise with Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which was essentially the continuation of the story that was finished in Assassin’s Creed 2. The plot of the series’ multiplayer component is a bit different from the single player campaign, though. In multiplayer, players take on the role of Abstergo agents, who are essentially the modern-day versions of Templars, as they use the Animus to gain the parkour abilities of Assassins through the bleeding effect.

Over time, the multiplayer hasn’t gone through many changes, with most being just a revamp of the control scheme which was brought along because of the radically different gameplay of Assassin’s Creed 3 when compared to Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. While the next-gen console versions will be available for the respective consoles on launch day, the current-gen versions will be available on November 1. The PC version doesn’t yet have a release date.

One day prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, PC gamers helped a petition located on Change.org to jump from 200,000 signatures back in late July up to 350,000 signatures. Now that the game is available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, PC gamers really don’t have anything better to do than complain they don’t have a version of Grand Theft Auto 5 to play, and as a result, the Change.org petition has jumped to over 450,000 signatures. Adding over 100,000 signatures in just three days is certainly an impressive feat, and as a result, the petition is now the largest gaming petition that’s ever been launched on Change.org and has been the most-viewed petition on the entire site this week. We have no doubt in our minds Rockstar Games will release a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 considering how massive the platform is when compared to video game consoles. This isn’t the first time Rockstar has forced PC players to wait for their turn with a Grand Theft Auto game as they also had to wait for Grand Theft Auto IV after it was released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We know gamers tend to be an impatient bunch, but in this case, PC gamers will just have to continue to be patient until Rockstar makes their official announcement.

Patrick Sodurlund, executive vice president for EA Games, stoked the ubiquitous flames of the Battlefield/Call of Duty rivalry, saying that EA won’t rest until its shooter is in the top spot.

“Competition is good,” Sodurlund told MCV. “It brings the best out of people. If there was only Battlefield or only Call of Duty, then the development teams might have been a little bit more content. We don’t look at them necessarily and mimic what they do.

“Maybe [Activision wasn’t] thinking about us much when we made Battlefield 3, but I can tell you, they are thinking about us now. They need to. We made a dent in the FPS market and we took share from them. And I am not going to give up until I’m No.1 and I am going to make sure I’m No.1.”

Sodurlund isn’t worried about the loss of the Medal of Honor games, or fact that the Call of Duty franchise touts annual releases, while Battlefield doesn’t.

“We have other games now,” he said. “We have Titanfall, which we didn’t have when we had Medal of Honor. To me it is about a balanced portfolio.”

Battlefield 4 releases October 29 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; the PlayStation 4 version releases November 12 in North America and November 29 in Europe, while the Xbox One version releases November 19 in North America, or November 22 in Europe. Players can upgrade current gen versions to the new consoles for $9.99.
